Point of Entry

Point of Entry is a catalog of scars oil painted on fragments of broken mirror. A carved line defines the incision of the scar, allowing the viewer to see themselves reflected within.

Each piece of this mosaic invites the viewer to engage in the empathetic exchange of glimpsing into a life not their own and seeing a part of themselves.

The Journey

A photographer (she/her) travels through rural China to re-connect with her family lineage and find a personal drive within herself.

The world is bigger than you can imagine and will open up to you in time. So don’t worry so much. Your choices don’t all need to be understood, even by those close to you.
— Dara, "The Journey"

Heroes

Brian (they/them) is a trans artist from rural Pennsylvania who learned how to cultivate their own sense of belonging.

There are a lot of things I would tell a 15 year old me…Things are not going to work out. Your best case scenario will not happen. But that’s OK. There’s this attitude that you’ll get out, you’ll find your tribe, and you’ll get that life that you want to get desperately and you think is unattainable. You might not get that life. It might not work out that way. But that’s not a bad thing either.
— Brian, "Heroes"

Love Yourself Well

Carys (she/her) found her passion as well as the peace, community and self love she needed to heal after domestic violence.

[What helped me was] the concept of radically accepting what you feel and then navigating from there. What I feel is OK vs. what I feel is not right. If it feels uncomfortable or if it hurts a lot.

[Sometimes] I don’t need to make myself feel better or make the situation better. I just need to stop and ask, ‘Why is it that I don’t feel OK?’
— Carys, "Love Yourself Well"

Point of Entry is a project on empathy, healing, and hope.

We seek to build a catalog of stories of subjects on their experiences of how they overcame adversity, defied societal expectations, and healed from trauma as a way to share knowledge and empower others.
